And ain’t I a woman?” This statement by Sojourner Truth shows that by giving examples from her own life from the hardships she had to go through, criticizes the dominant view of women put on by the elite white men.Īnother way for Black feminist epistemology to challenge those dominant ideologies is to use “ dialogue” to connect and interact with communities. ![]() A good example of this is by Sojourner Truth on page 276. In order for Black feminist epistemology to challenge those dominant ideologies, they must share their own lived experiences to represent new meanings, instead of searching and investigating new topics to talk about. ![]() In chapters eleven and twelve of the book Black Feminist Thought by Patricia Hill Collins, Collins argues that the dominant “ epistemology” in the United States has been defined by the “ elite” white men. ![]()
